Marketing is a fast-moving sector; there’s always something new to learn, which means there’s never a dull moment for entrepreneurs. This year, when you’re sitting down to tweak your strategy, be sure to pay close attention to these five trends.
1 . Altruistic Brands
According to a study in Forbes, 88% of consumers agreed that they, ‘would like brands to help (them) become more environmentally friendly and ethical.’ There are plenty of brands doing good all over the world. US-based company Tom’s Shoes donates one pair of shoes to someone in need, for every pair that they sell. During the COVID-19 Pandemic, UK based brewery Brewdog have been making hand sanitizers and providing them for free to hospitals.
When brands involve themselves in philanthropic or sustainable causes, it’s not just beneficial for wider society, but it also improves marketing and reputation.
2. Using Shoppable Posts
Shoppable content refers to content that offers a purchase opportunity there and then. Individuals can add products to a cart from the article, image, or video they are currently viewing. With a shoppable post, it only takes a few clicks to buy the product. This year we’re going to be seeing a whole lot more shoppable content. Consumers are already responding well to this interactive and streamlined shopping experience.
3. Voice Search Has Arrived
The voice search trend truly is upon us, it’s a wise move for businesses to start optimizing their content for voice. To do so, focus on using long-tail keywords and language that closely represents a conversation. Imaginably, the way that users talk to their Amazon Alexas is rather different from language used to type a search. Responding well to informational search intent is vital to appeal to voice searches.
4. SMS Marketing
SMS Marketing has been around for a long time; at one stage it wasn’t highly effective or popular. However, in our current generation, many consumers prefer to communicate with brands through messaging, or text. In 2020, SMS Marketing is making a comeback. The key benefits of using SMS Marketing are increasing sales, boosting engagement, and improving brand awareness.
5. Content Still Rules
Content marketing continues to be one of the most important tools to generate leads. You should seek to review and improve your content consistently, whether it’s video, blogs, or social media posts. Remember, it’s all about quality as opposed to quantity. It’s better to have a smaller amount of creative content than lots of unoriginal content (that fails to convert). While you’re at it, seek to improve your web design to ensure that your content is effectively laid out. Investing in a web design service can help you to create a more professional and user friendly site.
Of course, these aren’t the only areas to focus on in marketing this year. Check out AI in marketing, augmented reality campaigns, BERT optimization and the rise of personalized marketing. Pay close attention to your analytics to discover where you are succeeding or lacking.
